Pay and Wallet where supported
In supported markets, WeChat includes Pay and Wallet for in-store payments, transfers, and everyday purchases. You can scan to pay or send funds to contacts, which keeps transactions tied to chats for easy reference. Availability and features depend on your region and local partners. Users outside supported areas will not see payment tools in the WeChat app.
Privacy, translations, and device storage
WeChat includes granular privacy controls so you can choose who can view Moments, find you by phone number, or add you to groups. In-chat translation and support for 18 languages help when conversations cross languages. Chats and media are stored on your device by default, which keeps your message history under your control. A built-in QR scanner helps you add contacts and complete logins quickly without typing long codes.
Service availability depends on your country or region. According to the official help center, WeChat is not offered in India and Uzbekistan. If you are in those locations, account sign-up and use are not available. Features like Pay, Wallet, Channels, and WeChat Out are also limited to select regions and may not appear in every account.
WeChat and Weixin are sister services operated by Tencent. Some experiences such as Channels, Official Accounts, and Mini Programs may be accessed through Weixin in certain regions. Because services differ by market, the content or entry points you see in the WeChat app can vary based on your registered country and mobile number.
Core messaging and calling use your mobile data or Wi-Fi plan, so carrier charges may apply. WeChat Out is a paid calling service in supported markets, with rates and availability that vary by destination. Using media-heavy features like video calls and Channels can increase data use, so connect to Wi-Fi when possible to manage costs.
